Just barely made it this time, but look at the date – Still made it in on the weekend!
Corporate news labels protesters violent by focusing on rioters. The overwhelming majority of protesters are actually non violent. Love em, hate em, they’re hippies and they’re pacifists- not rioters. Corporate wants the general public to miss the point. As usual, they polarize the issue. They make it seem as though there are only 2 sides to the debate; we in the silent majority can choose between the G20 and the Anarchists.(more…)
The people of Toronto are not sharing the brunt of this garbage strike equally. People in fancy condos, with cars, or affluent enough to afford private waste collection are barely aware the strike is even occurring. I bike past a sign on my way home from work that says “traffic must yield to pedestrians”. It’s good to know the city is asking drivers to brake when people are walking in front of their cars. All we need now is for the municipality to educate the public with signs saying: “motorists not allowed to kill cyclists”. (more…)
Cities don’t allow airports near the downtown core for many obvious reasons. Here in Toronto we continue to allow the lucrative Toronto Island airport to expand; yesterday another expansion was announced by airport owners: Porter Airlines. Our green spaces are shrinking and our city is becoming increasingly ugly- all so that Bay Street businesspeople can cut 20 minutes off their travel time to catch a flight. (more…)
Loblaws at Dupont and Christie re-opened yesterday: Now serving fresh “meat” in the butcher section- very local supplier. Does anyone actually believe that a massive grocery store could be fully sanitized and rid of pests all in one weekend after an infestation? (more…)
