Coalition, Fear Politicians Working Together!

April 23, 2011

Canadian politicians are very predictable. Campaign time, the leaders tell us to fear the potential coalition of party’s that could form among their opponents. Following suit, those opposition leaders will deny any interest whatsoever in coalescing. So to recap: The PM tells us to fear politicians working together, and the politicians he is referring to swear they will not work together. All the leaders have promised not to work together with any of the other leaders. Excellent. Our government is about as cohesive as a preschool soccer team, except they can’t even wear the same coloured shirts!

All Good Authorities Are Goin’ Totalitarian

May 14, 2009

I’ve been getting into Twitter lately. Some real stupid comments on there, one guy made the claim that socialism plus time equals totalitarianism. . . .First of all, the two are incompatible; one can only exist at the exhaustion of the fundamentals of the other. Secondly, shit, name me a type of government that isn’t going to lead to totalitarianism with time. Capitalism’s certainly gone that route. If you have a boss, you are well aware that democracy doesn’t really happen in our day to day (more…)

Support our Troops, not our war.

Defense is popular

Canada, we have a reputation as peace keepers- destroying the enemy is not peace keeping. We should only be engaged in defending peaceful citizens and providing aid in Afghanistan. As soon as you hunt someone down, even a bad guy, you become an aggressor. Once you become an aggressor, it is very easy for your enemy to find new recruits and (more…)

Building Energy Conservation

January 19, 2009

Live in a cold climate, a common cityscape has tall buildings shooting steam up into the sky during extreme cold to vent pressure in their heating systems. Solutions? Build a green roof, seal the structure in for winter, and heat it with the excess steam during cold snaps. You could also process and feed the energy back into the building. Maybe have it turn a small generator that charges the boss’s laptop. (more…)

The Bottled Water Scam

January 2, 2009

They recently installed a new bottled water machine at work. $3 for water processed in Europe and shipped to Canada. Next to the vending machine, the other ughhh option, is a water fountain- free, but processed here in toronto and shipped across town. They’re selling the bottled water like crazy. (more…)

Food Supply

October 22, 2008

In the old days John raised cows, Joe grew wheat and Jennifer fished: individuals produced food and traded it.

Our supply of food has been whittled down to fewer and fewer sources. The grocery stores have amalgamated into 2-3 giant companies. Farms have been sewn together to form massive food machines. Even the struggling independent variety store owner is forced to get many of his supplies from costco and walmart. Naturally big (more…)
