Planned obsolescence as an industry standard is price fixing. Its the legal, hidden equivalent to retailers jacking their prices in unison. Purchases: remember its not just the price, but how much you’re getting. Take something like dish soap. The water and container aren’t of any use to you, so lets assume when you buy a container of dish soap you are really just after a quantity of soap ingredients. (more…)

Pretty Lousy Democracy.
September 3, 2009
We spend a third of our lives working, preparing for work, or traveling to and from work. . . . .While you’re at work you have submitted to the will of a dictator. Whoever your boss is, you listen to him and do what he says. Sure you can protest, offer alternatives etc. . . .In the end he is the boss and he has the final say- there is no vote, there is no free election at work. (more…)

Making Planned Obsolescence Illegal
December 26, 2008
Ever wonder how the package knows exactly when your light bulb will burn out? Annoyed that yet another cellphone battery has gone dead and replacements are not available? Amazed at the precision with which manufacturers are able to make products that last exactly 2 weeks longer than their warranties? (more…)

Don’t recycle
December 13, 2008
Myth1:
“Youre wasteful, you’re damaging the world, you need to re-structure your behavior to solve the problem”
Here’s what the powers that be would like you to believe. In reality, our landfill space is overflowing because, and i’ve said this before, everything we buy comes in massive glossy packaging and is designed to break instantly. (more…)

The Impossible Universe

Universe not Finite
Well, there cant just be a wall out there at some great distance on the other side of which is nothing, cause hey, if its got an other side then that’s something. So people like to theorize that if you traveled in one direction long enough you would eventually get back to where you started. Fine, but how the hell can you travel infinitely in (more…)

Throw out perfectly good goods
December 8, 2008
“Change your TV, change your life”- an actual slogan. I heard it last night. I’d also like to note, before i continue, the commercials where a woman throws her perfectly good washing machine into a pool so she will need to buy a new “red” one- to enrich her life. Also the commercial where the couple throws their phones into a lake (more…)

Don’t blame people, blame Walmart for death
December 1, 2008
When you’re in a mob, you don’t have a lot of choices- its either keep moving or fall victim to a trampling yourself. Walmart is the cause of their employee’s death; surely his family has already received a massive settlement to make the matter go away. Since there is no union at walmart, there is no one to argue (more…)

My Point Exactly.
November 29, 2008My Point Exactly.
Please see my last post also. . .
A mob of people desperate to get into WalMart trample a worker to death as he waits to unlocks the door at 5am. Other employees try to rescue him, the mob continues pouring into the store. Even as police try to do CPR, the crowd doesn’t relent (more…)
