“Sex After Kids” – Jim Smetchland Reviews

April 4, 2012

Writer/Director Jeremy Lalonde doesn’t mess around. He’s got another full length film in the works and it looks awesome. I attended the pre-screening of his last film, great night. The energy of a fun cast was evident in the theatre and on the screen. Lalonde’s got his cast ready for “Sex After Kids”, but he could still use your help producing it!

This is a procrastination alert, there are only 10 days left in the campaign to finance the film! Its up to about 90% of the total goal, so now is the time (more…)

Protesters are not rioters!

June 28, 2010

Corporate news labels protesters violent by focusing on rioters. The overwhelming majority of protesters are actually non violent. Love em, hate em, they’re hippies and they’re pacifists- not rioters. Corporate wants the general public to miss the point. As usual, they polarize the issue. They make it seem as though there are only 2 sides to the debate; we in the silent majority can choose between the G20 and the Anarchists. (more…)

Toronto hosts the G20, G8, G# group of G’s.

June 15, 2010

Surely these leaders could meet over video chat whenever necessary, so lets ignore the obvious here and dispel any notion that these 20 people need to physically meet. This is a display, not a meeting, and they’re looking for a big negative reaction. They know there will be aggressive protesting, you would only hold such an event in the core of a major city if you were looking for trouble. (more…)

Tips for dealing with your garbage during the garbage strike:

July 10, 2009

Researching what i could do with my garbage, I found that most sources are granola bloggers who’ve really just taken this opportunity to brag about how they compost on their bicycles, make art from old pop cans and buy nothing. This is my list of helpful tips for real people. I’m not going to sugar coat this or pretend that these solutions are green or fair (more…)

For Whom the Road Tolls

July 7, 2009

Our dependence on cars is primitive. We have 3 million rich, technological people living together in Toronto who can’t build themselves more than two measly subway lines. On the grand scale of civilizations that’s pretty pathetic. European cities, subways all over the place, damn subway can drop you off in your own basement.

Cycling in Toronto

June 11, 2009

I bike past a sign on my way home from work that says “traffic must yield to pedestrians”. It’s good to know the city is asking drivers to brake when people are walking in front of their cars. All we need now is for the municipality to educate the public with signs saying: “motorists not allowed to kill cyclists”. (more…)

Close the Toronto Island Airport

April 29, 2009

Cities don’t allow airports near the downtown core for many obvious reasons. Here in Toronto we continue to allow the lucrative Toronto Island airport to expand; yesterday another expansion was announced by airport owners: Porter Airlines. Our green spaces are shrinking and our city is becoming increasingly ugly- all so that Bay Street businesspeople can cut 20 minutes off their travel time to catch a flight. (more…)

Pedestrian

December 24, 2008

Good way to get people out of their cars; make it easier to be a pedestrian. I went shopping for some gifts today, needed to hit a mall and home depot. I don’t own a car, so i can only get there by transit and risk my life going from one store to the other (more…)
